Join us on 4th Sundays for Gentle Yoga following the Taize Service

We offer a gentle yoga session and guided meditation after the 5:30 Taize Service every 4th Sunday. Mary Leffler will be leading us in these sessions. Read more about Mary below.

Mary Leffler, RYT-500, OT/L, C-IAYT, (certified yoga therapist) has been practicing yoga since the 1970s; her practice has evolved considerably. She has come to believe that the intent of her practice is far more important than the appearance of her poses. Mary’s belief is yoga is about accepting your mind-body, treating it well, and challenging it in just the right way to be a healthier more balanced you. She is an occupational therapist with experience in mental health, sensory integration, assistive technology, school based practice, and wellness. In 2014 she brought a daily yoga program to Hanover County Public Schools  to help students improve their self-regulation skills thereby increasing their readiness for learning. When Mary found yoga as a retirement activity at age 55, she knew she was home in finding a style of yoga suitable for all. No level of fitness required. Our post Taize service yoga will be about 15 minutes of gentle but intentional movement followed by a guided meditation. It will be perfect for a restful Sunday evening and a good night’s sleep. Even in your 80s, you can participate; floor or chair will work. We’ll have a few props but bring a firm cushion for seating on the floor and a hand size towel to cozy your cervical spine in reclined. We may all use chairs for a standing pose or two. Really looking forward to practicing slow mindful restorative yoga with you. After a Taize service will be a perfect fit.
