Kelly Kane is the Director of St. Thomas’ Day School and also teaches in the "Before Kindergarten" Class. She has been with the school since 1995 & this is her 17th year as Director. She has been married to her husband, Dan, for 28 years and has three children (all graduates of St. Thomas’) ; Domenic (17 years old), Maria (15years old), & Colleen (15 years old). She is originally from Pennsylvania, but has lived in Richmond since 1994. She graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Elementary Education and concentration in Early Childhood.
Joan Bowles is the Assistant Director and a teacher in the "Before Kindergarten" class. She is in her 21st year of teaching at St. Thomas’ Day School. Prior to working at St. Thomas’ she worked in the medical field for 13 years. She is originally from Aston, PA & attended college in Lynchburg, VA . She married & moved to Richmond 34 years ago and now lives in Mechanicsville . Joan has 3 children: Brandon 32, Morgan 29 and Kyle 23, who is a graduate of St. Thomas’ Day School. For 25+ years Joan has worked with her church in either the Children’s Program or with the Jr./ Sr. High Youth and also served as Youth Director @ Shalom Baptist Church for a couple years. In her free time she enjoys nature, biking, kayaking, gardening, art, reading & spending time with her husband, kids, grand daughter, Ophelia & her chihuahuas, Tallulah & Peanut..
Laura Harbison is a teacher in the "Intermediate" class. She has been a teacher at St. Thomas’ Day School for 20 years. She is originally from Asheville, NC and has lived in Richmond for 32 years. She has 3 children; Jessica , Alex , & Mitchell, who is a St. Thomas’ graduate. Laura has 3 adorable grand babies- Sadie, Audrey & Eleanor. Laura is looking forward to another wonderful year at St. Thomas’ Day School.
Andrea Marcinkevicius (Mrs. M) is a teacher in the "Beginners" Class. She is a member of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church and this will be her 9th year teaching at St. Thomas’ Day School. Andrea has been teaching for 21 years (including 11 years teaching & 2 years as Director at Epiphany Lutheran Nursery School ). She has her CDA in Early Childhood Development for Preschoolers. She has been married to her husband, Dan, for 28 years and has 2 children: Jon (24) and Katie (17).
Wendy Knuth is a teacher in the "Beginners class". She is excited to be teaching at St. Thomas, where 3 of her children attended. This will be her 4th year teaching at St. Thomas Day School. She is married to her husband, Dave, and has 5 children: Josiah (24), Ben (22), Ava (21), Paxton (15) and Logan (13). Wendy enjoys spending time with her family, especially outdoors, and also sewing and reading. She looks forward to seeing this next generation of St. Thomas’ students learn and grow just as her children did.
Alyx Mikelaites is a teacher in the “Intermediate” class, and is returning to teach at St. Thomas’ after previously teaching and/or subbing at St. Thomas' for 5 years. She most recently worked at VCUHS Child Care teaching a full-time preschool class. She lives in New Kent with her two sons - Zane, an 8 year-old St. Thomas’ grad, and Isaac, a 5 month-old ham. Her family has recently opened Jolene Family Winery, where Alyx also works part-time. Any available free time is spent enjoying the outdoors with all of her boys, including fiancé Kyle and golden retriever Meeko.
Trina Pulliam is a teacher in the “Intermediate” class. This is her first year teaching at St Thomas, however she has taught children ages 2-5 for 20 years. She is originally from Cocoa, Fl and has lived in Mechanicsville for 10 years with her husband and 3 sons, Thomas (26), Aaron (18) and Nick (14). Trina enjoys reading, history, and just about anything outdoors. She loves trying fun and new things (most recently parasailing and zip lining) and really enjoys roller coasters and new adventures. Ashley Braxton is a teacher's aide at the Day School. This is her first year teaching at St. Thomas', but she has a lot of experience working with children of different ages. She is looking forward to a great year working with all the children in each different class.
