February Adult Ed: Faith in the Psalms
Led by R. Dale Smith, Seminary Intern
In addition to being the ancient Hebrew hymnal that we use as part of our weekly worship, the Book of Psalms chronicles the human experience of faith, depicting joy, sorrow, doubt, anger, and praise. It’s a messy book reflecting messy lives, in a world that doesn’t always make sense.
In this three-week study, we’ll discuss the psalms as both scripture and literature, with an eye to their historical context. Each week, we’ll take a look at a different type of psalm, each describing a different type of faith experience. In the final week, with some knowledge under our belts, we’ll attempt to write our own individual psalms. Or at least talk about how we might do so. Please join us at 9:30 each Sunday for this program.
