Sue Eaves General Convention 2009 Blog
Well folks, it is nearly time for me to depart for General Convention in Anaheim, California. As a member of the House of Deputies I have been elected to travel to our national tri-annual meeting to discern the call of the Episcopal Church for our next three years of ministry and beyond. I will leave Richmond beginning July 6 and, as our meeting gets underway, I hope you will keep up with news about our meeting and have lots of questions, opinions and persepctives you would like to share with me. Our diocesan and national website will have up to date information for you to follow. Let me know what you are thinking.
Sue

Praying for you, and glad you're there!
Sue, so glad you are at GC! I look forward to reading your thoughts!

Peter, Thanks for
Peter,
Thanks for keeping up. Things are getting very interesting.
I am constantly struck by the mystery and wonder of human beings. You only have to scratch the surface to discover the great depths of faith and committment that are brought to bear on the issues of the church. At one level we are a weird and wonderful crowd of all shapes, sizes, ages, orientateions, beliefs, viewpoints, and experiences. At the same time we are, as our chaplian said today, living in the reality that God has answered Jesus' prayer that we might be one as Jesus and the Father are one. As he pointed out to us, this means that the term separation has bcome the "organizational expression of a theological impossibilty.'
Let's hope we keep that in mind,
Sue
Blessing to you!
Thanks for serving the Diocese, Sue. I look forward to hearing your updates!
Fondly,
Sarah
Sarah, Thank you for
Sarah,
Thank you for your greetings. I am trying to keep a brief account of the Convention on our website (see the main page). I can't hope to cover all that is going on but it is a personal glimpse into what is happening. The next few days should be very significant as Convention really begins to make important directional decisons. One of the most exciting is a wonderful proposal to reach out to the Latino/Hispanic community in a big way, paying special attention to the fact that many of these folk have lived here for several generations and can be raised up to leadershhe in the church. It was interesting today that the Bishop of Los Angelos presided at Eucharist and it was almost all in Spanish.
