Susan Daughtry's Biography
Susan's path to the priesthood began in our diocesan youth programs that happen at Shrine Mont. She has continued to make a commitment to diocesan ministry by serving on the Standing Committee as well as the staff of Center Aisle, the Diocese of Virginia's newspaper at General Convention. She is also still involved as a driver/chaperone/chaplain with Parish Youth Ministries, the diocesan committee made up of youth who plan and execute retreats and programs for their peers.
Susan comes to St. Thomas' most recently from the Church of the Holy Comforter, in Vienna, where she focused on developing and expanding the youth ministry program. After teaching programs in Confirmation, Contemplative Prayer, and Old Testament bible study there, she is ready to expand her skills and repertoire in teaching and formation at St. Thomas'. She 'll also be teaching the Future Problem Solving courses at Seven Hills School part-time.
Coming to St. Thomas', brings Susan back to Richmond, where she grew up. She attended college at the University of Virginia and seminary in Alexandria.
She lives with her very friendly Labrador, Becket. She is a fan of yoga and hiking, and being outside in general. She has enjoyed backyard gardening quite a bit over the past couple years, and is hoping to find ways to be involved with organic/sustainable agriculture and the local food community around Richmond.
She considers it a great privilege to join St. Thomas' in ministry, and hopes to be energized to pursue the unique ways God has called us individually and as a congregation to abundant life, meaningful work, and vibrant faith.
