What are you looking for most on the St. Thomas website?

Brotherhood/Sisterhood Reachng Across the Races

I was blessed to participate in a "Beyond Dialogue" session at Boaz & Ruth with representatives from St. Thomas. I'll never forget how special that time was-These are serious Christians unafraid to come where the
need truly is "in the hood" - modern day "Dodge City".
I just want to keep in touch.

Ever Learning, Always Loving, Eternally Thankful.

Kudos!

I have spent a lot of time this past year looking at church websites. Yours is by far the best I've found. It covers everything I want to know and gives me a sense of the charism of your congregation while serving as a spiritual resource through the sermons and other writings. Do not doubt that your website serves as a mission of your parish beyond what it offers to your congregants.
Thank you!

Serving Lists

Where are the September, October, November and December Serving in Worship lists?

Serving lists

September and October lists are on the webpage. Novemberand December's list is being prepared!

Prayer during off hours

I often want to come and spend time in the church before or after work for some quiet prayer time (especially in summer when there is no morning prayer service). When can the church be accessed for this purpose? Thanks.

Prayer during off hours

We would love to have you come to the church to pray. If you will contact me at seaves@stthomasrichmond.org I would happy to make arrangements for you to have access at a time convenient to yourself.

The church can be accessed

The church can be accessed through the office entrance between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm on Mon. - Fri. Just come to that door and the Parish Secretary can let you in. If you are talking about hours before or after that, please email me at jhdorsey@stthomasrichmond.org so that I can respond directly to you.

I'm moving to the neighborhood and was checking out your site--it's great, except I was hoping to find a paragraph or two about St. Thomas himself! I hope you'll add one. Thanks!

Info on St. Thomas - without a doubt :-)...

SC

the website

I'm headed to Richmond this weekend, so as a visitor, I'm poking around various sites to see what the style of worship is, and what music is planned for Sunday. Your site offers a great look at the parish and programs here, and in that way is quite helpful, but for a tourist or visitor looking to see where to go to church on a Sunday, the info isn't really there. High, low? formal, informal, and with Sunday being a feast day, I was hoping to find some more specific info about its celebration. Looking at the Sunday bulletin is one way to get that sense, but most churches don't have their Sunday service bulletins on line.

Visitor to Richmond

How great you liked our webpage. We don't tend to think of services as high or low, formal or informal, but as the space in which we gather to worship as a community where all are welcome. We, like other chuches, are composed of individuals of different backgrounds and experiences and value our life of worship as a uniting factor where we hope hearts and souls will find sacred space and a loving home. If you are ever in Richmond again we would welcome your visit.

singles' activities

i would also like to know what kind of program you have for fellowship among singles - i am too old for young singles and too young for retired singles (53 years old).

also, do you have any space for relaxation/exercise activities for the staff and/or parishioners? i am a certified integral yoga teacher and have taught church groups (and others) gentle yoga classes with an emphasis on Christ-centered spirituality.

the first yoga class i took was in the parish hall of my home church in alexandria. no dogma involved, but a time to relax and reflect offered at the end.

thank you.

Singles activities

For the most part we are pretty intergenerational and not focused on single/married/partnered issues. Single people are welcome in all our ministries and activities from supper clubs, outreach opportunities, faith formation, book clubs, mssions, and leadership in worship. We are always open to new ideas and opportunites and single people in the congregation do have things they do together. We have also had yoga offered in the parish hall in the past!

co-ed yoga for relaxation and flexibility

dear sue, thank you for responding to my inquiry about offering gentle yoga classes for all ages in the parish hall.

i failed to mention that there would be no charge, on my part, as my services would be an offering to the parishioners, staff, and community, as determined by the rector.

yours in Christ,

joan wilder

Mission trip

What is the status of Web site posting of the New Orleans Mission trip? I'd like to notify the Jacksons that their Video is on line.

Re: Mission Trip

Linc, we actually don't have video capability on the website at the moment, but we're working on it. Lucia is working on a writeup of the trip, and that should be on the website shortly.

Would like to see the

Would like to see the minutes of Vestry meetings posted. Several years ago when the committee was surveyed feedback was received from the congregation that more timely information was needed. Maybe they are available somewhere in the church ..if so let it be known. Putting them on the web would show a committment to transparency and would assist in keeping the "people" more informed.

Thank you so much for this

Thank you so much for this suggestion, which happens to be very timely! We are planning a "Vestry Bulletin Board" which will identify vestry members, post the minutes of each meeting and the monthly financial report. The information will be available in the Parish Hall. Please be aware that vestry records of this type are permanent and public. They are kept on file in the church office and anyone in the congregation is welcome to read them upon request. Also, look out for brief summaries of vestry meetings in the newsletter.

Calendar updates

Please include the date, time and place of the book group with St. Philips on the calendar and the chapter being discussed for that session. I have tried to attend but could not access the info.

Also, pleaas include times of other events, such as the Holocaust Survivor program started at 7 and there was a dinner before. the time was not readily available on line for the dinner. Thank you for the opportunity to make suggestions
