Service and Ministry Opportunities at St. Thomas'

There are many opportunities for service and ministry at St. Thomas. Everyone is invited to find a place to serve. Training is provided for the ministries requiring specialized skills. If you are called to participate in any of these activities, please contact the person listed for each activity or the parish office.

In addition to the opportunities listed on those pages, we have other opportunities to assist in the on-going life of the church, including:

Administration & Finance Committee: This committee oversees the administration and financial life of the church. Contact Betsy Scott (355-6441 or bscott@stthomasrichmond.org).

Property Committee: This committee assists in the upkeep and maintenance of the church's buildings and grounds. Contact Bob Ulrich (358-3559 / bulrich@stthomasrichmond.org).

Stewardship Committee: This committee plans, facilitates, coordinates, and evaluates stewardship at St. Thomas'. Contact Bob Ulrich (358-3559 / bulrich@stthomasrichmond.org).

Office Support: To serve as a volunteer receptionist for the church office and to assist with clerical work, including special mailings. Contact the Parish Secretary (321- 9548ex.10/  mprimar@stthomasrichmond.org).

Vestry Service: The vestry of St. Thomas' is chaired by the rector and consists of twelve committed parishioners, who are voted by the congregation to oversee the well-being of the parish. Contact Sue Eaves (321-9548, ext. 11 / seaves@stthomasrichmond.org).

Property & Landscaping Ministry: work to beautify the landscape, gardens and yard of the church building.

How do I get involved in service and ministry at St. Thomas’? Learn about the many opportunities for service and ministry and volunteer in the areas in which you have interest.

What if I am interested in an area of ministry but don’t have experience? Training and guidance is provided for all areas of service and ministry. Indicate your interest and training will be provided.

How often will I serve? Service frequency varies with the ministry. With the exception of Sunday School teachers who serve weekly or bi-weekly, most service rotations are monthly.

How long is my commitment to serve? The initial commitment is for one year after which you may wish to reconsider. Some ministry opportunities are short-term (ie: CARITAS).

How does the schedule for service and ministry work? The serving in worship and ministry chart for each month is published in the newsletter and posted on the church web site. A reminder email is also sent out each week. At the time of volunteering you can indicate your availability.
