St. Thomas Creation Care Blog

This blog was created by the Creation Care Committee of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Richmond, as a resource for its congregation and the broader community on the issues surrounding our calling as Christians to tend God's garden.

Planting Environmental Stewardship

"Our ultimate purpose is to honor God as Creator in such a way that Christian environmental stewardship is part and parcel of everything we do. Our goal is to make tending the garden of creation, in all its aspects, an unquestioned and all pervasive part of our service to each other, to our community, to God's world."
-Calvin B. DeWitt, Reading the Bible Through a Green Lens

Going on an energy diet

It is Lent, and many of us are trying to stick to promises to give up chocolate, meat, or facebook. The discipline that this requires is a good way to focus the mind on what is really important to us, whether it makes us appreciate our blessings (like chocolate!) or realize that something we have been spending a lot of time doing (like facebook) distracts us from real relationships.

Welcome!

Welcome to Deep Green Faith, the new blog from the Creation Care Committee of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Richmond. We are so glad you have chosen to join us! With this blog, we at St. Thomas hope to provide our congregation and the broader community with spiritual and practical resources related to caring for the beautiful Creation all around us. Let us know what you think!
