Description
"Windmill Blades" (also called "Pineapple") is the name of this year's quilt pattern. It is a variation of the "Log Cabin" pattern, which most quilt historians think originated between 1800 and 1850, but gained its highest period of popularity during the 1920’s.
The quilt top, which contains about 2,500 pieces and 13 yards of fabric, took approximately 150 hours to piece. It is made of high quality 100% cotton in solid black and neutral to gold-colored authentic reproduction printed fabrics. The backing is 100% cotton muslin and the batting is 100% machine washable wool. A wool batting provides beautiful loft and makes the quilt both warm and lightweight and will retain these qualities over time.
The piece is machine-quilted in black thread in an overall pantograph style in a floral design called field poppies. The reverse side of the quilt, being solid muslin, shows off the beautiful quilting design and makes the piece reversible. It is machine-washable (cold water, delicate cycle, line-dry).
The quilt fits a queen-sized bed and measures 82 x 83 inches. It is not designed to go over the pillows of the bed.
