Bright Beginnings Success
Thank you to all who volunteered for the YMCA Bright Beginnings Shopping Buddy Volunteer night at Target on Wednesday, August 25th. Elementary students from the Northside YMCA paired up with volunteers to shop for back to school clothes at the Target at Broad and Libbie. It is hard to say who had more fun - the kids or the volunteers! There were lots of smiles to go around. Thanks to: Barbara Grossman, Danielle Lundy, Theresa Faina, Mandy Tornabene, Landon Woody, Jennifer Byrnes, Nikki Sabiston, Linda Tucciarone, Maria Candler, Stacy Hull and Susan Murphy. Thanks also to Anne Chamberlain, Barbara Haas and Marcia Bracy. The Y appreciates all of the monetary donations that help fund the budgets for purchasing school supplies and clothing for the children in this program. Look for this volunteer opportunity again next year!

YMCA Bright Beginnings partnered with C.A.R.I.T.A.S.
St. Thomas is a part of Concerned Northside Congregations (CNC) and because we knew we had school aged children in C.A.R.I.T.A.S. Family Focus, staying at Battery Park Christian Church between September 4 - 11, 2010, we contacted and coordinated with Shelly Poole of YMCA Greater Richmond, who is Bright Beginnings Program Manager. She agreed to donate any additional backpacks and also agreed to arrange an additional shopping trip at White Oak Target on S. Laburnum, last Wednesday, September 9th.
Thank you, June Hardy Dorsey and St. Thomas Volunteers who took C.A.R.I.T.A.S. Family Focus' children shopping so they could be prepared for a new school year!
God Bless our Volunteers!
